* For me story is the "storyworld". In terms of creation and production (execution) it is related to the design of transmedia concept and project (narrative design) with various media, devices and platforms, including gamification and participatory aspects of the whole content generations. This is allowing the creator to render more transmedia elements in the world or the universe, whether it is fictional or documentary. Transmedia practise can happen when there is a prepared and managed audience engagement into a space where the story (and its related stories) can unfold with and over (which is different) multiple channels and for any period of time.

I insist on the fact that I observe among the newbies and new practitioners, as well as enterprises, agencies and consultants, a general confusion with :

1 - transmedia storytelling

2 - social media marketing (and/or "social TV")

3 - multiplatform production

For this purpose planning to launch a crowdfunding campaign in order to edit a new print of the Card Game of the 7 Transmedia Families and look for more partners.

You will be able to pre-buy our own set of cards, contribute to the making of the next versions from the successful prototype and contribute to the Think & Do Tank looking for appropriate terminology, good practices and methodology.

Please make a note that the back of the cards is for sale! This means that any sponsor printing the cards get its logo on all the cards and help the card game to evolve within the community of researchers and practitioners. This can be done for a single event or for a marketing campaign for the sponsor. The more we sponsor the card game, the more it can be sent out for free to professionals, researchers, practitioners and students.  

Any ideas or wishes about being involved in the 7 Transmedia Families? Some teachers and students will use it in their programme and I am willing to extend it with more cards for explanations, with the “Do It Yourself” project and an online exhibition, as well as a project for a book. All new talent is welcome.

Le concept de narration transmédia : Quelle place dans la culture ?

Une création transmédia repose sur une structure ou un univers narratif qui tire le meilleur de chaque médium utilisé. Ceci étant renforcé par les outils technologiques de notre environnement actuel et donc par Internet et tous les outils ou plateformes intégrés et complémentaires. Ce n'est pas le concept qui est nouveau, mais les interactions grâce aux médias. Dans une création transmédia l'utilisateur interagit avec l'histoire en particulier et celle-ci s'en trouve transformée. Un récit est transporté et transformé par son audience qui devient active. En appliquant le concept de la narration transmédia à la culture on touche le coeur de la médiation culturelle : le public est participatif ! C'est la culture participative qui prend possession de l'histoire, du récit, de l'oeuvre.

Working with The 7 Transmedia Families Card Deck as an idea generation tool, O’Flynn & Halpern will model and explore different strategies and processes for building a community across platforms, finding a business model, and extending your story in an immersive and buzz generating way. They want to empower the creators of transmedia projects with creative design thinking! Their aim is to share with you this exploration in a transmedia design process in order to help you move your production forward.
